Vintage (Wattham) cars on display! Pre-1931, Meet and Greet, FREE Event!!
• See our beautiful restored 1911 Metz Plan Car!
Engine: The 1911 Metz Plan car features a 2-cylinder, 12 horsepower, air-cooled engine.
Transmission: Instead of a traditional transmission, it uses a friction drive. A drive wheel, actuated by a shift lever, moves inward or outward on a friction disc to change speed.
Final Drive: The power is transmitted to the rear axle via double drive chains.
Lubrication: The Metz uses a "pump-splash" lubrication system, where an oil pump pumps oil into dipper troughs for bearings and rods. The engine can run for a short time in splash mode while the pump refills the reservoirs.
Other Features:
The car has a 48-inch track, which can bo increased to 56 inches by reversing the wheels. The flywheel also acts as a fan for cooling the engine cylinders.
