About Us

LEAP serves to empower English language-learners in the community through interactive, accessible, free English courses held weekly by student volunteers on the Brandeis campus. Our mission is to provide accessible English classes to improve immigrants’ navigation of the lifestyle, networks, and institutions of the United States. Provide learners with increased agency through a means of effective communication through English language instruction. • Providing weekly lessons to students, who may attend more than one class each week • Create a welcoming environment for ESL (English as a Second Language) speakers and students • Maintain longitudinal relationships with learning population over the course of the semester and academic year • Empower the immigrant community • Create welcoming space for learners and teachers to participate in intercultural collaboration and learning through language instruction
