The Language Night event will be an interactive, casual event in which attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Southeast Asian languages and even learn some phrases! Within the location, various tables will be set up to represent different countries/cultures as attendees can "travel" around Southeast Asia. While the Southeast Asian community at Brandeis is small, the collective experiences of its members are extremely diverse and nuanced, especially in the scope of languages. This event would allow not only Brandeis community members of Southeast Asian heritage (regardless of their cultural connection) to either connect to or share their cultures' languages, but also people of all backgrounds to celebrate the often overlooked diversity of Southeast Asian languages.
