When?
Our public nights are currently not in session, but we're planning on opening the observatory to residents of Waltham. Information will be updated when we start public nights. Check the 'News and Events' tab for the latest information.
Use of the observatory is highly dependent on weather. Cool, cloudless nights offer the best viewing conditions for use.
Where?
Public nights usually occur in the Brandeis University Observatory, on the 4th floor of the Abelson building in the center of campus. Some public nights may be at different locations using portable telescopes.
Directions to Abelson: Park in Theater Lot and walk toward the SCC (large green building).
What to expect
Common objects we observe are Jupiter and 4 of its moons, Saturn, Mars, the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy.
How to prepare
The observatory is exposed to the elements, so please dress appropriately for the weather. Always wear closed-toed shoes for safety.
